Well, as the title says, I'M BACK!!!

And like it also says....I have been since the 6th of January !!! Basically, I had so many journals and deviations built up over 3 weeks, that I got lazy and just sorta kept saying "I'll write one later..." But 2 weeks later, here I am writting this.

Okay, so here's the run down of my trip. 25 days, 5 in Mexico City 3 days travelling (driving) and 17 days in Cancun.

The main reason for the trip was for my Great Grandma's 100th Birthday!! Which was amazing, we had it in a restaurant right in the central square of Mexico City, with views of the Cathedral, the parliament bulidings and ofcourse, the parades that were going on at that time of year. I'll update this later with photos. So basically I had to do the meet and greet with all of my random relies, which was ok, but I really just hung out with my close cousins and my brother. It was a great experience, and the food....10 thumbs up!!!

So after that we did well, nothing for a day. Just bumming around with my cousins at my Grandparent's place, but it was fun. But then the day after, we began on our 30+ hour drive from Mexico City (North/Central Mexico) where my grandparents and uncle live, to Cancun (South/Tropical Mexico) where my other two aunts live (my cousins too...)

And it could have been a 22 hour non stop trip, BUT my grandma and aunt decided, NO!!!!!!! We aren't going non stop because we want to stop at every stupid, tiny, dingy, all the damn same villages on the way down!!! This added at least 10 hours....let's just say that my family is so NOT democratic, because there was 11 in the mini bus driving down, and well...it was 3:8 of wanting to stop at places, and wanting to just get there!!! So we pretty much just had to deal with it...but the drive itself was fun, I really got to appreciate the beauty of Mexico, It's like here in Australia, where you have tropical rainforest and desert all in the same place!! Except that it was so much more beautiful (soz to all the true blue aussies...but deal with it...)

So, after the long drive we finally got to Cancun after leaving Mexico City at 04:00 on Wednesday, finally arriving at 23:30 on Friday!!! We did stop over on Wednesday and Thursday nights, but that's beside the point...basically by the end, the mini van stank!! And well...so did everyone...this is pretty much because even in winter, Cancun is about 25+ degrees celcius, and at least 80% humidity all year round!! So let's just say it was hardly the white chirstmas I was hoping for...

17 days, 4 parties, 17 nights of only considering going to sleep at about 2:00 AM, 20 movies, 17 Sleepins' a billion visits to the beach, 2 birthdays, 1 anniversary, 1 new year, 1 christmas and 1 happy Alan!!! That's pretty much what happened during the 17 days in Cancun. We're party people on that side of my family, our unspoken moto is, over cook, over drink and over party!! Seriously...

So as you would guess, when I got home to Melbourne, I was pretty much wrecked..But it was so worth it, I had a great time and really got to know my cousins and that side of my family. It's sad, because in reality, it could be that last real 'family holiday' to visit, the next time we might see them, is in 2-3 years, my brother would be 18 or 19 and would probably stay here, and my eldest cousin would be in college (she would be 20 or 21) and well, you get it....
